Hanging Sculpture

A background in metalwork and jewelry design is the inspiration for my hanging sculptures. I think of them as oversized jewelry compositions that hang. Like earrings for giants. Each mobile begins with a hand-forged armature of copper, brass or galvanized wire, riveted, hammered, twisted into shape and sometimes darkened with patina. I cut, shape, and drill textured architectural and stained glass to fit the composition, adding gemstones, faceted crystals, beads and found objects to complete each piece. Whether in a window, or in front of a wall, they are best hung at eye level for catching light and a close up look at the surprises they contain.
